🌿 Health Benefits
Sincronizadas provide plant-based protein and fiber from refried beans, which support digestive and heart health. Cheese adds calcium for strong bones. Using lean proteins like chicken or turkey and whole-wheat tortillas makes this a more nutritious meal.
📚 History
Sincronizadas are a variation of quesadillas, which have Aztec roots — Indigenous Mexicans used corn tortillas as edible vessels for centuries. The sincronizada emerged in 20th-century Mexico City as a “synchronized” version using two flour tortillas pressed together like a sandwich. The name reflects how the two tortillas are perfectly aligned. Today sincronizadas are a popular street food and home meal throughout Mexico.
