Entertainment for Events

Bring Margaret Stitchwell to your event for live hand embroidery and a character dressed to your theme. Guests can watch, chat, and try a stitch with my guidance, even if they've never embroidered before. I can mingle through a fair or festival or teach from one designated spot, and guests can buy an optional sewing kit to take home.

What To Expect

Guests usually spend about 20 minutes on the activity. I bring the equipment for the demonstration and guided activity.

Rate And Guest Kits

• $30 per hour, with a four hour minimum. Extra time is $30 per hour with the organizer's approval.
• Guests can buy optional embroidery kits from me for $5 to $20, depending on the size. Kits include all project supplies and illustrated instructions to take home. Guests pay me directly; kits are separate from the organizer's booking fee.

Billing begins at our agreed start time, whether I'm roaming or teaching from one spot. If the organizer or venue delays the start, time is still billed from that time unless we both approve a change.

I can help promote your event for free.

I've taught hand embroidery in live sewing workshops for years, and I'm happy to help spread the word about your event. If you'd like, I'll promote it for free on my social media and write a press release for local newspapers and radio. Please provide accurate event details and any approved links or artwork. Media outlets decide whether to publish or broadcast, and I can't guarantee audience response.

Booking Details

To give guests a comfortable experience, I work in public settings and ask the organizer to provide a safe public area for the activity. Locker space is appreciated if available, and access to a clean indoor restroom is preferred. For outdoor events, we'll agree on a sheltered spot or an alternate location in case the planned space becomes unsafe due to weather. I can provide my recent child abuse and criminal history reports.

I'm based in Blair County, Pennsylvania. For events outside the county, I'll quote any travel and overnight costs separately so we can agree on them in writing before you book.

A 50% deposit of the quoted service fee reserves your date. The remaining balance is due before the event begins. Plans can change, so here's how cancellations work: if you cancel more than 14 days before the event, the deposit is kept but no further service fee is due. If you cancel 14 days or fewer before the event, the full agreed service fee is due, with your deposit counted toward it.

If severe weather or an official event closure prevents the event from going ahead, we'll try to find a new date. If we can't agree on one, I'll refund payments received, minus any travel costs you approved that I can't recover. If I need to cancel, I’ll refund what you’ve already paid me, or we can choose a new date together.
